Abstract:
Provided is a catalyst for exhaust gas purification that can improve purification performance for exhaust gas while maintaining favorable PM collection performance. The catalyst for exhaust gas purification is provided with wall flow structured base material 10, which has an entry side cell, an exit side cell, and porous walls 16, and a catalyst layer formed on internal parts of the walls in contact with the entry side cell or the exit side cell. The catalyst layer is formed in areas up to at least 50% of the thickness of the walls from the surface of the walls and is held on the surfaces of the internal pores in the walls in these areas. Furthermore, average filling rates A, B, C in the catalyst layer held in the pores of the internal pores in the walls for each pore diameter range of a pore diameter of 5 µm to less than 10 µm, a pore diameter of 10 µm to less than 20 µm, and a pore diameter of 20 µm or greater satisfies A < B < C, with A ≤ 40%, B ≤ 40%, and the proportion of pores with a filling rate of at least 75% for the catalyst layer among pores with a pore diameter of 5 µm to less than 20 µm is 35% or less by number.
