Abstract:
Catalyts of the NO¿x? occlusion/reduction type, including a hydrogen generation catalyst, which comprise a support comprising an Al¿2?O¿3?/ZrO¿2? composite oxide and rhodium supported thereon. Since the Al¿2?O¿3?/ZrO¿2? composite oxide has a lower basicity than ZrO¿2?, SO¿x? is less apt to approach it and hence the poisoning of the rhodium by sulfur can be inhibited. The Al¿2?O¿3?/ZrO¿2? composite oxide has higher heat resistance than ZrO¿2? and functions to improve the activity of the rhodium in steam reforming reactions like ZrO¿2?. The NO¿x? occlusion/reduction catalysts hence have the improved ability to remove NO¿x? after a durability test.
