Title:
CATALYST LAYER FOR FUEL CELLS AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/035191
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a catalyst layer for fuel cells, which has catalytic ability equivalent to or higher than a catalyst layer for fuel cells composed of platinum alone, at low cost. A catalyst layer for fuel cells of the present invention is characterized by having a layer (I) that contains a metal oxycarbonitride and a layer (II) that contains platinum. It is preferable that the mass ratio per unit area of the metal oxycarbonitride in the layer (I) to the platinum in the layer (II), namely (metal oxycarbonitride/platinum) is 2-500. It is also preferable that the mass of the platinum in the layer (II) per unit area is 0.005-0.2 mg/cm2.
