Abstract:
The invention relates to catalysts used for sulfur production by Claus process and to methods for preparing said catalyst. The catalyst for sulfur production by Claus process comprises calcium compositions and a titanium dioxide solid solution and niobium pentoxide as the oxide component. The relation of the component content expressed in per cent by mass is the following: calcium compositions: 21.0-30.0; a solid solution of titanium dioxide and niobium pentoxide: the rest. The inventive method for preparing the catalyst is carried out by means of processing titanium tetrachloride together with niobium pentachloride processing together with titanium tetracloride processing with the alkali element water solution or the suspension thereof followed by obtaining titanium and niobium hydroxides which are mixed with the calcium compositions. The process is carried out at conditions ensuring the preparation of catalyst of the required composition. The invention makes it possible to obtain a higher activity and mechanical resistance of said catalyst and to simplify the method for preparation of the catalyst.
