Abstract:
Disclosed is a catalyst for use in the purification of an exhaust gas. The catalyst comprises noble metal particles (1), a first compound (2) which has the noble metal particles (1) supported thereon, a second compound (3) which is different from the first compound (2), and an oxide (4) which coats the noble metal particles (1), the first compound (2) and the second compound (3). The median diameter of the first compound (2) and the median diameter of the second compound (3) have the relationship represented by the following inequality expression: (the median diameter of the first compound) < (the median diameter of the second compound).
