Abstract:
As a means for preventing a decrease in catalyst performance even after the catalyst has been exposed to exhaust gas which contains a phosphorus compound, the present invention provides a catalyst for purifying phosphorus compound–containing exhaust gas, in which an exhaust gas inlet-side top catalyst layer and outlet-side top catalyst layer which contain a noble metal in different concentrations are provided to the surface of a bottom catalyst layer that is provided upon a fire-resistant, three-dimensional structure and contains at least one noble metal, and an intermediate area having a length that is 3–23% of the entire length of the catalyst structure is provided between the inlet-side top catalyst layer and the outlet-side top catalyst layer, the intermediate area starting from a position that is a 10–38% distance from the exhaust gas inlet-side end face of the catalyst.
