Title:
CATALYTIC CONVERTER FOR EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/141739
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A catalytic converter (11) for exhaust gas purification is constituted by disposing a holding mat (14) between an inner peripheral surface of a metal shell (12) and an outer peripheral surface of a catalytic carrier (13) and by holding the catalytic carrier (13) inside the metal shell (12) by means of the holding mat (14). The thickness of the holding mat (14) in a release state after being heated by exhaust gas is not less than 210% with respect to a clearance (α) between the inner peripheral surface of the metal shell (12) and the outer peripheral surface of the catalytic carrier (13), and therefore a reduction in surface pressure due to degradation of the holding mat (14) is compensated by an increase in surface pressure due to sufficient expansion of the holding mat (14), so that the catalytic carrier (13) can be reliably held over a long period of time. In addition, since it is not necessary to increase the surface pressure by strongly compressing the holding mat (14) at the time of assembly, there is no risk of the catalytic carrier (13) being damaged by excess surface pressure.
