Abstract:
Provided are an organopolysiloxane having a catechol structure in a molecule thereof, and a powder treatment agent that is formed from said organopolysiloxane and that provides a dispersion having excellent dispersibility, fluidity, and temporal stability. This catechol functional organopolysiloxane is represented by formula (1). (In formula (1), each R1 independently represents an unsubstituted or substituted C1-6 monovalent hydrocarbon group, each R2 independently represents an unsubstituted or substituted C1-6 monovalent hydrocarbon group or represents a substituent represented by formula (2), a, b, c, and d each represent 0 or a positive number, and a+b+c+d equals 2 to 1,000. At least one R2 per molecule is a substituent represented by formula (2). In formula (1), an oxygen atom of each repeating unit of formula (1) is shared with another repeating unit.) (In formula (2), Y1 represents an unsubstituted or substituted C2-6 divalent hydrocarbon group. In formula (2), the atomic bond delimited by the wavy line is bound to a silicon atom in formula (1).)
