Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cathode active material preparation method and a cathode active material, the method comprising: a first step of mixing a cathode active material precursor and a lithium-containing material, and then firing same to prepare a fired product; a second step of using a washing solution, which comprises a coating layer precursor containing a chelate anion, so as to wash the fired product, and then drying same to prepare a lithium transition metal oxide in which a coating layer comprising a lithium chelate compound is formed; and a third step of preparing a lithium transition metal oxide, in which a coating layer comprising a Li-M-O solid solution (M is at least one selected from Nb, Co, Ti, V, Zr, Si, Al and Mo) is formed, by heat treating the lithium transition metal oxide in which a coating layer comprising a lithium chelate compound is formed, wherein the chelate anion comprises at least one metal selected from Nb, Co, Ti, V, Zr, Si, Al and Mo, and at least one ligand selected from an oxalate, a nitrite, a carboxylate, a borate, a phosphate and an acetate.
