Abstract:
A cathode catalyst layer 121 has two layers: a first catalyst layer 121A on a gas diffusion layer side, and a second catalyst layer 121B on an electrolyte film 110 side. The first catalyst layer 121A includes first particulate conductive members 123, first catalyst particles 124, and first fibrous conductive members 125, at least a portion of the first catalyst particles being carried on the first particulate conductive members. The second catalyst layer 121B includes second particulate conductive members 126 and second catalyst particles 127, at least a portion of the second catalyst particles being carried on the second particulate conductive members. The catalyst carrying density D2 of the second catalyst particles on the second particulate conductive members is greater than the catalyst carrying density D1 of the first catalyst particles on the first particulate conductive members.
