Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a cationic electrodeposition coating composition that makes it possible to form a cured coating film having excellent anti-rust performance in an edge section and an excellent coating film appearance. The present invention provides a cationic electrodeposition coating composition comprising a resin emulsion (i). The resin emulsion (i) contains an aminated resin (A), a block isocyanate curing agent (B), a metal compound (C), and an organic acid (D). The metal compound (C) is at least one of a metal oxide and a metal hydroxide containing at least one substance selected from the group consisting of La, Nd, Y, Pr, Yb, and Ce as a metal element. The organic acid (D) is a compound of one or more substances selected from the group consisting of hydroxy monocarboxylic acid and sulfonic acid. The resin emulsion (i) satisfies the following condition: the ratio of the number of moles of metal in the metal compound (C) and the number of moles of the organic acid (D) are within the range (C):(D) = 1:0.3 to 1:2.7.
