The present invention comprises a cell balancing method comprising the steps of: obtaining, at regular periodic intervals, battery information including a current, voltage, and temperature of a battery; determining whether cell balancing is required by using the obtained battery information; if it is determined that the cell balancing is required, then turning on a cell balancing switch to an initial duty ratio and executing an initial cell balancing mode; after the cell balancing starts, determining whether it is required to change a duty ratio of the cell balancing switch by using the obtained battery information; if it is determined that it is required to change the duty ratio of the cell balancing switch, then increasing the duty ratio of the cell balancing switch to a predetermined range; determining whether to continue the cell balancing by using the obtained battery information; if it is determined to continue the cell balancing and the number of cell balancing cycles exceeds a predetermined reference number of cell balancing cycles, then increasing the number of diagnosis counts; and if the counted number of diagnosis counts is equal to or less than a predetermined reference number of diagnosis counts, then changing a cell balancing mode and returning to the step for determining whether to change the duty ratio of the cell balancing switch.
