Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a feature for preserving cells or tissues in a non-frozen state while excellent survivability of the cells or tissues is maintained. Cells or tissues are preserved in a non-frozen state within a liquid composition that contains deacylated gellan gum or a salt thereof, and an acid polysaccharide or a salt thereof in which a random coil state is maintained in a divalent metal cation medium and which is cross-linked via divalent metal ions. The acid polysaccharide may be alginic acid. The liquid composition may furthermore contain calcium ions or other such metal cations.
