Abstract:
Provided is a cell separator manufacturing method with which a protective layer that contains at least one granular ceramic as the main component is formed on a surface of a porous sheet base material. The method includes preparation of a water‑based paste by mixing a solid material that contains the aforementioned granular ceramic and a binder with an aqueous solvent to which at least one alcohol is added, and coating of the surface of the aforementioned porous sheet base material with the aforementioned prepared water‑based paste, and a protective layer, from which the aforementioned alcohol has been eliminated, is formed. The method also includes forming the aforementioned protective layer such that the content of solids in the protective layer will be higher than the content of solids in the aforementioned water‑based paste by the amount of elimination of the aforementioned alcohol, whereby said content will be at least 55 wt%.
