Abstract:
Provided are a novel process for producing cellulose nanofibers, and novel cellulose nanofibers.
The process comprises fibrillating a pulp with a single-screw or multi-screw kneading machine in the presence of water to produce cellulose nanofibers, wherein the fibrillation is conducted in a manner such that the peripheral speed of the single-screw or multi-screw kneading machine is 45 m/min. Thus, cellulose nanofibers superior in both water filtration efficiency and sheet strength, which have been thought to be inconsistent properties, are obtained.
