Abstract:
Provided are a cemented carbide alloy and coated cemented carbide alloy which have excellent chipping resistance when used as a cutting tool. This cemented carbide alloy comprises a hard phase making up 85-97 mass%, and a binder phase making up 3-15 mass%. The main component of the hard phase is tungsten carbide. The binder phase includes Co and at least one platinum group element selected from the group consisting of Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir and Pt. At the peak of the Co obtained by x-ray diffraction analysis, the intensity ICoc of the (200) plane of cubic Co and the intensity ICoh of the (101) plane of cubic Co fulfill the relation of the following expression. 0.1 ≦ [ICoh/(ICoh+ICoc)] ≦ 0.6.
