Title:
CEMENTED CARBIDE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/175721
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a cemented carbide comprising tungsten carbide particles and a binder phase, said cemented carbide comprising the tungsten carbide particles and the binder phase in a combined amount of not less than 80 vol%, and containing the binder phase in an amount of 0.1-20 vol%, wherein: the tungsten carbide particles each comprise a first region and a second region; the first region is 0-50 nm from the surface of a tungsten carbide particle; the second region is the portion of the tungsten carbide particle excluding the first region; the first region and the second region each contain a first metal element; the first metal element is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of titanium, niobium, and tantalum; the ratio R1 of the number of atoms of the first metal element to the combined total of the number of atoms of the first metal element and the number of atoms of elemental tungsten in the first region is not less than 0.70 times but less than 1.30 times the ratio R2 of the number of atoms of the first metal element to the combined total of the number of atoms of the first metal element and the number of atoms of elemental tungsten in the second region; R2 is 2.0-10.0%; and the binder phase contains cobalt.
