Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a centering device and a centering method capable of inhibiting problems and the like in which a surface of a lens is damaged when the lens is held or during a subsequent centering. In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an optical element centering device for holding an optical element between distal ends of first and second bell holders to perform centering, wherein the centering device and the like is provided with first and second support devices capable of moving toward and away from each other so as to support the first and second bell holders and cause the distal end of the first bell holder and the distal end of the second bell holder to coaxially face each other, the first support device movably supports the first bell holder in the axial direction, the first support device has, on the axial line of the first bell holder, an elastic member for elastically supporting the first bell holder, and the first bell holder is configured so as to be capable of elastically regressing in the rear end direction.
