A centrifugal pump, comprising: a pump shaft (11); an impeller assembly (100), which comprises an impeller hub (110) and an impeller (120), the lower end surface of the impeller hub (110) being attached with a tungsten steel attachment (150), which comprises a shaft hole through which the pump shaft (11) is allowed to run and a lower end surface (152) serving as a rotational engaging surface; and an impeller axial support assembly (200 and 200') axially supporting the impeller assembly (100) and remaining stationary, the impeller axial support assembly (200 and 200') comprising a ceramic supporting member (250), which defines the shaft hole (252) through which the pump shaft (11) is allowed to run, and a stationary engaging surface (254) constructed to frictionally engage with the lower end surface (152) of the tungsten steel attachment (150) during a process of operating the centrifugal pump so that an axial force experienced by the impeller assembly (100) is transmitted to the impeller axial support assembly (200 and 200'). The planar engagement of the tungsten steel attachment (150) and the ceramic supporting member (250) allows the friction between the two to be minimal while transmitting the axial force, thus reducing energy loss, and increasing the efficiency of the centrifugal pump.
