Abstract:
A centrifugal separator (20) for centrifugal separation of foreign matter contained in laundry water (liquid) flowing through a water channel (19a) comprises a case (21), which is directly connected to the water channel (19a), and a hollow rotating cylinder (22) provided inside the case (21) so as to be rotatable. The separator: has a liquid inlet (22a) for inflow of laundry water from the water channel (19a) into the rotating cylinder (22) and a liquid outlet (22b) for outflow of the laundry water from inside the rotating cylinder (22) to a water channel (19b); and is equipped with a cylinder motor (23) for rotating the rotating cylinder (22) and a rotational flow-generating section (24) provided upstream of the liquid inlet (22a). The rotational flow-generating section (24) has a cylindrical part (25) that is connected to the liquid inlet (22a), a vortex part (26) provided upstream of the cylindrical part (25), and a liquid inflow part through which laundry water from the water channel (19a) flows into the vortex part (26), the liquid inflow part being provided further outwards than the side wall of the cylindrical part (25).
