An impeller of a centrifugal pump configured so that a streamline of slurry flow from an inlet to an outlet follows a path which at the inlet lies on a circle with a diameter which is equal to 50% of the diameter of the inlet, and which is midway between opposing curved surfaces which bound the outlet.
