Abstract:
The present invention makes it possible to measure with good precision acceleration caused by imbalance for the balance of a rotor when rotating at high speeds using an acceleration sensor and a control unit that have processing speed required for low speed rotation. This centrifuge is provided with the rotor, a drive source for rotating the rotor, a rotating shaft for coupling the rotor and the drive source, the acceleration sensor, and the control unit. The acceleration sensor outputs values indicating acceleration in two different directions perpendicular to the axial direction of the rotating shaft. The control unit finds corresponding acceleration values, which are values corresponding to acceleration in the perpendicular directions to the axial direction of the rotating shaft, from the values showing acceleration in the two different directions, and when those corresponding acceleration values satisfy predetermined criteria indicating that the acceleration is high, the rotor rotation is stopped.
