Cephalosporin derivatives represented by formula (I), (wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a protective group, R2 represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group, R3 represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a cyano group, a carboxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a carbomoyl group, a carbanolyloxy group, a heterocyclic ring, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom, R4 and R5 may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen or alkyl, $(1,3)$ represents 0, 1 or 2, m and n each represents 1 or 2 when $(1,3)$ is O, or represents O when $(1,3)$ is 1 or 2, and X represents methylene when $(1,3)$ is O or 1 or represents methylene, substituted methylene or oxo when $(1,3)$ is 2, provided that X does not represent methylene when R3, R4, and R5 all represent hydrogen), salts or esters thereof have strong antibacterial activity, and are useful for treatment and prevention of various bacteria-induced diseases.
