Title:
CERAMIC METAL HALIDE LAMP ILLUMINATION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/172926
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a ceramic metal halide lamp illumination device in which only a single easily lit light-emitting tube is lit from among a plurality of light-emitting tubes, the purpose being to shorten the restart time and achieve an instantaneous restart. An illumination device comprises a ceramic metal halide lamp and a drive circuit. The ceramic metal halide lamp has a plurality of light-emitting tubes within a single outer globe. In the lamp, only a single easily lit light-emitting tube is normally lit. In order to suppress heat transmission from one light-emitting tube that is lit to another light-emitting tube that is not lit, a translucent heat-screening member is arranged among the plurality of light-emitting tubes. On restarting, the drive circuit applies a pulse voltage of 2.5 to 4.5 kV to the lamp.
