Abstract:
Ceramics for sterilization having an excellent sterilization performance and not emitting substances harmful to the health of animals and plants, a method of producing the ceramics, and a sterilization method using the ceramics. The method of producing the ceramics for sterilization comprising the steps of mixing zeolite and shells in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 50:50 and pulverizing the mixture to a mean particle size of not greater than 200 $g(m)m, or mixing zeolite and shells each pulverized in advance to a mean particle size of not greater than 200 $g(m)m in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 50:50 to form mixed powder, molding the mixed powder, heating step-wise the resulting molded article to 100 to 300° and then to 400 to 650 °C, and sintering the heated molded article at 700 to 1,050 °C. When immersed in a solution in which bacteria exist, the ceramics for sterilization exhibit the sterilization action to the bacteria.
