Abstract:
[Problem] To provide zinc oxide particles which are improved in ultraviolet ray shielding performance in an UV-A wave region having a wavelength of 400 to 320 nm. [Solution] Cerium-oxide-coated zinc oxide particles, each of which comprises a raw material zinc oxide particle that serves as a base and a cerium oxide layer that is coated and formed on the surface of the base particle, said cerium-oxide-coated zinc oxide particles being characterized in that the content ratio of cerium oxide is 5 to 30% by weight relative to 100% by weight of zinc oxide, the particle diameter of each of the cerium-oxide-coated zinc oxide particles is 0.01 μm or more, and the specific surface area of each of the cerium-oxide-coated zinc oxide particles is 5.0 m2/g or more.
