Abstract:
A chain saw comprising a saw chain, a drive shaft for driving the saw chain, a handle which the user grips, a handguard (40) disposed near the handle and supported so as to be pivotable about a first pivot shaft (40a), a support (60) supported so as to be pivotable about a second pivot shaft (64) and pivoted in association with the movement of the handguard (40), a braking member (70) for braking the drive shaft in association with the movement of the support (60), and gear mechanisms (40b, 62) for connecting the handguard (40) and the support (60) to each other and increasing the pivot angle of the support (60) to a level greater than the pivot angle of the handguard (40).
