Abstract:

A chain transmission device for driving camshafts, whereby: a chain (5) is suspended between a crank sprocket (2) provided in a crankshaft (1) and a cam sprocket (4) provided in a cam shaft (3); a chain guide (A1) is provided on the outside of the slack-side chain (5a) section of the chain (5) and is swingable around one end section thereof; the adjustment force of a chain tensioner (11) is applied to the end section on the swinging side of the chain guide (A1); the chain guide (A1) is impelled towards the chain; and the chain (5) is rolled and guided by each of a plurality of rotatable rollers (23) provided in the chain guide (A1). The winding angle of the chain (5) at the outer circumference of the roller (23) closest to the crank sprocket (2) is set to at least 170°, in order to reduce noise.
