Abstract:
The present invention relates to a chalcone derivative compound, an optical isomer thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same as an effective ingredient for preventing or treating diseases caused by reduction in a mitochondrial oxygen consumption rate. A pharmaceutical composition, when comprising the chalcone derivative compound, exerts excellent activity of increasing a mitochondrial oxygen consumption rate and can be usefully used for preventing or treating diseases caused by a reduction in the oxygen consumption rate of mitochondria, such as neurodegenerative diseases, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, drug addiction, chronic renal failure, hepatic encephalopathy, and chronic liver disease.
