Abstract:

Disclosed in embodiments of the present invention are a channel changing method, and an apparatus. The method comprises: a playback device sends to a fast channel change (FCC) server a channel change request for a change to a target channel; the playback device receives a low bitrate media stream of the target channel quickly sent by the FCC server and plays same; when receiving a quick sending end notification sent by the FCC server, the playback device receives a source bitrate media stream of the target channel from a head end device; the playback device makes the source bitrate media stream of the target channel follow the low bitrate media stream of the target channel for playback. By means of the embodiments of the present invention, the channel change speed is improved, the channel change time is reduced, and bandwidth is saved.
