Provided are a channel measurement method and apparatus, which relate to the field of communications, and can solve the problems that an AP may be unable to receive a channel detection message sent by an STA during UL channel measurement and that a time overhead is large during the execution of UL channel measurement. The method comprises: an AP sending a channel measurement notification message, the channel measurement notification message comprising an STA indication and an indication of a channel to be measured; the AP receiving a channel detection signal sent by M STAs, and the M STAs that need to measure a channel are divided into W groups and N STAs in the same group send a channel detection signal simultaneously on the same sub-channel of V sub-channels to be measured, wherein the channel detection signal contains a plurality of sub-carriers, with every Ng continuous sub-carriers being a group of sub-carriers. Each STA in each group occupies a sub-carrier with a fixed position in each group of sub-carriers, wherein the subcarriers occupied in the same group of subcarriers by the N STAs of the same group are different from one another. The embodiment of the present invention is used for narrowband or wideband channel measurement.
