Abstract:
A mobile phone terminal (character input device) (1) comprises a touch panel (2) capable of detecting tactile contact upon a plurality of locations, and a main control unit (10) for displaying a plurality of buttons upon a display surface of the touch panel (2) and determining that a first tactile operation, wherein a position of tactile contact for the touch panel (2) is continuously displaced, has occurred. The main control unit (10), upon detecting an occurrence of a second tactile operation, which is an additional tactile contact to an area different from the area where the first tactile operation is occurring, in a state wherein an occurrence of the first tactile operation at an area in which the plurality of buttons are displayed has been assessed, then receives as input the character corresponding to the button that had been displayed in accordance with the position of the tactile contact of the first tactile operation when the second tactile operation occurred.
