A character segmentation method, device and electronic device, a character recognition system, an image separation method, device and electronic device, and an italic correction method, device and electronic device. The character segmentation method comprises: acquiring, by a pre-set segmentation point generation algorithm, character segmentation points of a character image to be segmented to serve as candidate segmentation points; the character image to be segmented referring to separating, from an original gray character image, a foreground character image obtained by removing a background image (S101); according to the original gray character image and a pre-generated segmentation point classifier, screening from the candidate segmentation points to acquire correct segmentation points (S103); and according to the correct segmentation points, performing character segmentation on the character image to be segmented (S105). By adopting the method, the candidate segmentation points can be filtered to acquire correct segmentation points, so as to avoid an over-segmentation of a character image having phenomena such as character breakage, thereby achieving the effect of improving the character segmentation accuracy.
