Abstract:
Provided is a characteristic evaluation device for evaluating characteristics of droplets being applied by accurately determining the three-dimensional shape change of the applied droplets over time during a drying process. Specifically, this characteristic evaluation device is for evaluating characteristics of applied droplets by determining the three-dimensional shape change of the applied droplets over time during a drying process, and is provided with: a droplet shape measurement unit that measures the three-dimensional shapes of the applied droplets by using an optical interference method based on a plurality of wavelengths; a temporal droplet shape recording unit that records the temporal droplet shape while linking together the three-dimensional shapes of the applied droplets measured by the droplet shape measurement unit and the time at which the three-dimensional shapes of the applied droplets are measured; and a characteristic evaluation unit that evaluates the characteristics of the applied droplets on the basis of a plurality of temporal droplet shapes measured at different times and recorded in the temporal droplet shape recording unit.
