Title:
CHARACTERIZATION OF AVIATION GASOLINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/099873
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Methods are provided for characterizing an aviation gasoline for use in a sparkignited engine based on analysis methods traditionally used for compression-ignition fuels. For example, an aviation gasoline can be characterized based on a combustion delay for the aviation gasoline, a heat release rate for the aviation gasoline, or a combination thereof. Analyzing an aviation gasoline based on characteristics traditionally used for compression-ignition fuels can allow for distinction between types of aviation gasolines that may appear to be similar under conventional octane tests but that have substantially different performance characteristics.
