Abstract:
Provided is a very safe power storage system. When using n number (n is an integer of 3 or more) of secondary batteries in a vehicle such as an electric vehicle, the present invention monitors the status of each of the secondary batteries by using an abnormality detection means, and when an abnormality such as a micro short circuit is detected, uses a circuit configuration which electrically isolates only the secondary battery exhibiting the detected abnormality from the charging system or discharging system. The abnormality monitoring is sequentially performed for the n number of secondary batteries by using one or more microcomputers, secondary batteries exhibiting an abnormality or secondary batteries which according to the detection will exhibit an abnormality are selected, and an instruction is provided via each switch so as to bypass these secondary batteries.
