Abstract:
The present invention provides a charging roll for an electrophotographic apparatus capable of achieving high chargeability and surface resistance uniformity, thereby reducing image defects. A charging roll 10 for an electrophotographic apparatus includes an axial body 12, an elastic layer 14 formed around the axial body 12, an intermediate layer 16 formed around the elastic layer 14, and an outer layer 17 formed around the intermediate layer 16. The intermediate layer 16 contains roughness forming particles 18, 20. The roughness forming particles 18, 20 are two types of particles made up of large particles 18 and small particles 20 having mutually different average particle diameters. The difference between the average particle diameters is in a range of 10 to 40 µm. The surface resistance of the material of the outer layer 17 is greater than that of the material of the intermediate layer 16.
