Abstract:
Provided is a charging roll for electrophotographic equipment that is exceptional in terms of uniformity of discharge characteristics. Provided is a charging roll 10 in which one or more groove parts 22 extending along a direction within ±46° of a circumferential direction y are regularly formed in an axial direction x on the outer peripheral surface of an elastic layer 14, the groove width w1 is 4-30 μm, the groove depth d is 2-12 μm, the width w2 of flat surface parts 24 that are portions of the outer peripheral surface of the elastic layer 14 other than the groove parts 22 is 4-30 μm, the angle θ of the direction in which the groove parts 22 extend with respect to the circumferential direction y and the ratio w2/w1 of the groove width w1 of the groove parts 22 and the width w2 of the flat surface parts 24 have a specific relationship, a surface layer 16 includes a binder polymer 16a and roughness-forming particles 18, and the roughness-forming particles 18 are disposed on both the flat surface parts 24 and the groove parts 22.
