Abstract:
The invention relates to a charging station for charging a number N of electric vehicles. The charging station comprises a power connection unit for connecting the charging unit to an AC mains power supply, a number N of coupling devices for coupling the charging unit to the N electric vehicles, a plurality of backup batteries that are switched parallel, a rectifier for rectifying an AC voltage provided by the AC mains power supply into a direct current for charging the backup batteries, and a circuit device for connecting the backup batteries in such a manner that the power connection unit and the coupling units are galvanically isolated. The charging unit facilitates a galvanic isolation of the electric vehicles to be charged from the AC mains power supply, said galvanic separation having a simple design and being cost-effective. The invention further relates to a charging unit comprising a number of charging stations.
