Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a chiral compound as represented by formula (I), wherein R1, R1', R2, R2', n, n', m, and m' are as defined in the description. The present disclosure also relates to the preparation of said chiral compound. The compound is added to a nematic liquid crystal to obtain a cholesteric liquid crystal; furthermore, by means of illumination, it is possible to change the helical twisting power constant of a chiral additive and thereby broaden the reflection bandwidth. Therefore the present disclosure also relates to a use of the chiral compound in the preparation of a cholesteric liquid crystal material, a cholesteric liquid crystal material containing the chiral compound of the present disclosure, and a display device containing the cholesteric liquid crystal material of the present disclosure.
