Abstract:
Provided are novel chitosan compounds represented by formula (I) and an optical isomer separating agent. In formula (I), the Rs are independent and are a group represented by formula (II) or formula (III), Ra is a C1–5 alkyl group or a branched-chain C3–5 alkyl group, and n is an integer that is at least 5. In formulas (II) and (III), the Rbs are independent and are an unsubstituted phenyl group, a phenyl group that has a substituent, an unsubstituted cyclohexyl group, or a cyclohexyl group that has a substituent, the substituents being independent and being a C1–5 alkyl group or a halogen.
