Abstract:
A vector F which is perpendicular to a vector A that represents the absorption spectrum of a target component is set as a filter that extracts impurities overlapping the target component on a chromatogram, and the inner product of vector F and vector I, which represents a measured spectrum obtained by chromatographic analysis of a sample, is defined as an index value u of the amount of impurities. If impurities are present, a peaked waveform will appear in a graph that represents the time course of the index value u with respect to the measured spectrum at the time of each measurement. By detecting this, it is possible to accurately determine whether or not impurities are present. The direction of vector F may be set such that, when a vector B, which represents the spectrum of impurities, is decomposed into a vector Ba parallel to the vector A and a vector Bo perpendicular to the vector A, said direction of vector F is nearly parallel to vector Bo (to have maximum similarity to the cosine).
