[Problem] To provide a chuck mechanism in which the size of the device can be reduced with a simple configuration, in which the clamp can be opened wide, and which is unlikely to damage or crush a pipe. [Solution] Provided is a chuck mechanism comprising: a horizontally disposed shaft 1; a frame 2 provided to the distal end of the shaft; a pair of dogleg-shaped link members 3, 4 in the top and bottom parts of the frame, each of which members 3, 4 having an outwardly bowed part on the inward side, and each of said members 3, 4 being swingably supported at the bowed parts; parallel link members 5, 6 having trailing ends that are rotatably supported by the frame such that said members 5, 6 are parallel to the respective forward portions of the pair of dogleg-shaped link members; a pair of clamp members 7, 8 that are disposed facing a clamp surface and are rotatably supported, respectively, by the distal end of the upper dogleg-shaped link member 3 and the distal end of the parallel link member 5, and by the distal end of the lower dogleg-shaped link member 4 and the distal end of the parallel link member 6; and a swing drive mechanism for causing the rearward portions of the pair of dogleg-shaped link members to swing.
