Abstract:
A circuit breaker 1 is equipped with a first circuit C1 which includes a first bidirectional semiconductor switch S1, and a second circuit C2 which includes a second bidirectional semiconductor switch S2. A first mechanical switch M1 which is connected in series to the first bidirectional semiconductor switch S1 is provided in the first circuit C1. During normal operation, the first bidirectional semiconductor switch S1 and the first mechanical switch M1 are turned on, and a normal current flows through the first circuit C1. When a load 2 fails, the first bidirectional semiconductor switch S1 is turned off, and an overcurrent is blocked. When the first bidirectional semiconductor switch S1 fails, the first mechanical switch M1 is opened, and the normal current from the load 2 flows to the second circuit C2.
