Abstract:
A circuit for driving a light emitting diode array according to the present invention turns off an LED array for each group in the turn-on order while the LED array is kept the same as an average voltage, and thus allocates lighting time for the LED array to enable a load on an LED to be uniform, to thereby stabilize an LED driving area and thus extend an LED life. A light emitting diode array according to the present invention comprises: a voltage control unit controlling the increase/decrease in an input voltage of a power source full-wave rectified through a bridge diode; an LED array for each group, forming a pattern such that each group includes LEDs close to the group, where a plurality of LED devices are connected in series to form one group, and also n (2 or more) LED arrays for each group are connected in series; an opening switch connected in series to each of the LED arrays for each group, such that the LED arrays for each group are turned on in the connection order with the increase in voltage of the voltage control unit; a closing switch connected in parallel to each of the LED arrays for each group, such that the LED arrays for each group are turned off in the connection order with the decrease in the voltage of the voltage control unit; and a switch control unit connected to each of (n-1) opening switches, each of (n-1) closing switches, and the voltage control unit and controlling opening/closing operations of the switches according to the increase/decrease in the voltage of the voltage control unit.
