Abstract:
In this invention, a circular accelerator is provided with a rotating capacitor inside a casing, and comprises a stator electrode (2) and a rotor electrode (3) having a rotor electrode surface, which, together with a stator electrode surface of the stator electrode (2), results in an electrostatic capacitance therebetween, the electrostatic capacitance being changed by the rotation of the rotor electrode (3). The rotor electrode (3) is held by a shaft (18), which is rotatably held by a metallic axis bearing (19) affixed via an axis bearing holder (20) onto a conductive portion inside the casing. At least one section of the shaft (18) in the axial direction is constituted from an insulating material that insulates from direct current. At least one section of the axis bearing holder (20) is formed from an insulating material that insulates from direct current.
