Abstract:
A clad plate formed by joining an aluminum plate and a hard metallic plate, such as a copper plate, together at the respective side end surfaces thereof, wherein the clad plate has high joint strength and excellent separation-resistant characteristics against bending. A side end surface of an aluminum plate (1) and a side end surface of a hard metallic plate (2) are joined together by pressure welding with a nickel layer (3) provided therebetween. A ridge (11) and a groove (12) which are formed in the side end surface of the aluminum plate (1) are respectively engaged and joined through the nickel layer (3) to a groove (22) and a ridge (21) which are formed on the side end surface of the hard metallic plate (2). An end of the nickel layer (3) extends beyond the rear end (B) of the side end surface of the aluminum plate (1) and is exposed to the surface of the aluminum plate, and the end of the nickel layer is joined in this state to the aluminum plate. The average width (W) of the exposed section (4) of the nickel layer (3) which is exposed to the surface of the aluminum plate is in the range from 0.2 to 1.5 mm.
