Abstract:
This clearance estimating device is provided with: an other portion temperature estimating portion for estimating the temperature of another portion other than a skirt portion of a piston which is a constituent of an internal combustion engine; a skirt temperature estimating portion for estimating the temperature of the skirt portion of the piston on the basis of the temperature of the other portion estimated by the other portion temperature estimating portion; and a clearance estimating portion for estimating the size of a clearance between a cylinder which accommodates the piston with freedom to reciprocate, and the skirt portion, on the basis of the temperature of the skirt portion estimated by the skirt temperature estimating portion.
