Abstract:
In this clearance inspection method, first, a region which includes an ignition coil (3) and a fuel tube (4) is scanned to obtain measurement data including a portion of the outer surface of each of such components, and to obtain design data including the outer shape of each of the components and the positional relationship between the two components within an assembly. Further, in the clearance inspection method: the design data of the ignition coil (3) is aligned, as a rigid body, with the position of the measurement data of the ignition coil (3), and the outer shape of the ignition coil (3) including a hidden outer surface portion is generated; the design data of the fuel tube (4) is aligned, as a non-rigid body, with the position of the design data of the fuel tube (4); the outer shape of the fuel tube (4) including a hidden outer surface portion is generated; and the distance between the two components is calculated.
