Abstract:
A clipper for use with a hair trimmer is provided herein. The clipper includes a first edge, a second edge, a first side and a second side. The first side is opposite to the second side. The first side and the second side extending between the first edge and the second edge. The first edge includes a first edge surface, a second edge surface, a hook portion and a blade portion. The first edge surface is opposite to the second edge surface. The hook portion extends from the first edge surface and the second edge surface and is configured to secure the clipper on the hair trimmer. The blade portion is positioned adjacent to the second edge surface.

CLAIMS:

1 . A clipper for use with a hair trimmer, the clipper comprising: a first edge portion, a second edge portion, a first side and a second side, the first side being opposite to the second side, and the first side and the second side extending between the first edge and the second edge; and the first edge portion comprising a first edge surface, a second edge surface, a hook portion and a blade portion, the first edge surface being opposite to the second edge surface; and the hook portion extending from the first edge surface and the second edge surface and configured to secure the clipper on the hair trimmer, and the blade portion being positioned adjacent to the second edge surface.

A clipper for use with a handle, the clipper comprising: a first edge portion, a second edge portion, a first side and a second side, the first side being opposite to the second side, and the first side and the second side extending between the first edge and the second edge; and the first edge portion comprising a first edge surface, a second edge surface, a hook portion and a blade portion, the first edge surface being opposite to the second edge surface; and the hook portion extending from the first edge surface and the second edge surface and configured to secure the clipper on the hair trimmer, and the blade portion being positioned adjacent to the second edge surface, wherein the handle is mountable to a portion of the clipper such that the handle can be easily gripped and maneuvered by a user for shaving with the clipper.

3. The clipper of claim 1 or 2, wherein the first edge surface and the second edge surface are continuous. 9

4. The clipper of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the blade portion is positioned on the second edge surface.

5. The clipper of any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the blade portion comprises a continuous blade extending along part of a length of the second edge surface.

6. The clipper of claim 5, wherein the blade is positioned at an interface between the second edge surface and the hook portion.

7. The clipper of claim 6, wherein the blade forms a flat plane with an external surface of the hook portion.

8. The clipper of any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the blade extends away from the second edge surface such that the blade forms a predetermined angle with the second edge surface.

9. The clipper of claim 8, wherein the predetermined angle is any one of: about 10 degrees to about 80 degrees; about 30 degrees to about 60 degrees; about 100 degrees to about 170 degrees; and about 120 degrees to about 150 degrees.

10. The clipper of any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the blade is removably attached to the clipper.

11 . The clipper of claim 1 or 2, wherein the blade portion is integrally formed in the clipper.

12. The clipper of any one of claims 1 to 11 , wherein the hook portion is configurable to securely mount the clipper to the hair trimmer and snuggly fit thereinto.

The clipper of any one of claims 1 to 12, wherein the hook portion includes a pivot surface and a free end, wherein the free end is substantially 10 rounded with a predetermined radius as the clipper is configured to pivot about a pivot line during mounting or removal of the clipper on the hair trimmer.

14. The clipper of any one of claims 1 to 13, wherein the second edge portion, the first side and the second side are configured to further secure the clipper to the hair trimmer.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] The present application claims priority to US application no 63/231 ,209 filed on August 9, 2021 . This document is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.

FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0002] The present subject-matter relates to a clipper for use with a hair trimmer.

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0003] A hair trimmer typically includes a main body having a cutting end and a blade set coupled to the main body at the cutting end. The blade set includes a fixed blade in face-to-face relation with a movable blade. A motor is drivingly connected to the movable blade to effect reciprocation thereof in response to actuation of the motor. A number of suitable motors and driving arrangements are known.

[0004] Trimmers are generally used to cut close to the skin to trim hair from areas such as the back of the neck, around the ears, and around sideburns. Trimmers can also be used to cut hair to a specific length or a specific distance from the head or other body region. Trimmers are used by both experienced and inexperienced users to cut hair from the head or other regions of the body.

[0005] A razor is generally an instrument with a sharp blade or combination of blades, used to remove unwanted hair from the face or body. One of the disadvantages of holding a razor blade is the risk of cuts and/or abrasions to the user.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0006] According to one aspect, there is disclosed a clipper for use with a hair trimmer, the clipper including: a first edge portion, a second edge portion, a first side and a second side, the first side being opposite to the second side, and the first side and the second side extending between the first edge and the second edge; and the first edge portion comprising a first edge surface, a second edge surface, a hook portion and a blade portion, the first edge surface being opposite to the second edge surface; and the hook portion extending from the first edge surface and the second edge surface and configured to secure the clipper on the hair trimmer, and the blade portion being positioned adjacent to the second edge surface.

[0007] According to one aspect, there is disclosed a clipper for use with a handle, the clipper including: a first edge portion, a second edge portion, a first side and a second side, the first side being opposite to the second side, and the first side and the second side extending between the first edge and the second edge; and the first edge portion comprising a first edge surface, a second edge surface, a hook portion and a blade portion, the first edge surface being opposite to the second edge surface; and the hook portion extending from the first edge surface and the second edge surface and configured to secure the clipper on the hair trimmer, and the blade portion being positioned adjacent to the second edge surface, wherein the handle is mountable to a portion of the clipper such that the handle can be easily gripped and maneuvered by a user for shaving with the clipper.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DISCLOSURE

In addition, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the exemplary embodiments described herein.

[00030] FIG. 1 illustrates a hair trimmer 1 including an outer member 3. The outer member can be a blade assembly or a single blade. A clipper 5 for use with the hair trimmer 1 is also shown in FIG. 1. The clipper can be removably mounted to the hair trimmer. As shown in FIG. 1 , the clipper 5 is mounted on the outer member 3 of the hair trimmer 1 .

[00031] The hair trimmer 1 includes a housing 7. The housing can be made of injection-molded plastic or any suitable material known in the art. An electric motor (not shown) can be enclosed inside the housing. A cord 9 can provide electricity to the electric motor via a internal switch (not shown) mounted in the housing.

[00032] An on/off switch actuator 9 can be positioned for sliding movement along the side of the housing 7. The switch actuator 9 can be coupled to an internal switch for activating and deactivating the electric motor to turn the hair trimmer 1 on and off, respectively.

[00033] The hair trimmer 1 includes a cutting end 11 and an outer member 3 proximate the cutting end 11 of the housing 7. The outer member can be a blade assembly or a single blade. The blade assembly can include an inner blade and an outer blade.

[00034] The inner blade can be driven by the motor located inside of the hair trimmer 1 and moves relative to the outer blade, which is fixed. In a further embodiment, any suitable means for actuating the motor and reciprocating the inner blade may be used.

[00035] FIGS. 2 and 3 illustrate one embodiment of the clipper according to one aspect. The clipper 5 is adapted for use with a hair trimmer. For example, in use, the clipper can be mounted on an outer member of the hair trimmer.

[00036] Referring to FIGS. 2-4 and 6-7, there is shown an embodiment of a clipper 5 according to the present subject matter. The clipper 5 includes a first edge portion 21 , a second edge portion 22, a first side 23 and a second side 24. The first edge portion 21 is opposed to the second edge portion 22. The first side 23 is opposite to the second side 24. The first side 23 and the second side 24 extend between the first edge 21 and the second edge 22.

[00037] The first edge portion 21 includes a first edge surface 27, a second edge surface 28, a hook portion 29 and a blade portion 30. The first edge surface 27 is opposed to the second edge surface 28. The first edge surface and the second edge surface can be continuous. [00038] The hook portion 29 extends from the first edge surface 27 and the second edge surface 28 and is configured to secure the clipper on the hair trimmer. The hook portion can be configurable to securely mount the clipper to the hair trimmer and snuggly fit thereinto.

[00039] For example, when the clipper is mounted on the outer member (for e.g., a blade assembly) of the hair trimmer, the hook portion surrounds the outer member and maintains a tight fit with it so that the clipper does not fall off when it is being used. The first side 23 and the second side 24 can also be configured to secure the clipper to the hair trimmer.

[00040] Referring to FIG. 4, the hook portion 29 includes a pivot surface 33 and a free end 35. The free end is substantially rounded with a predetermined radius. The clipper can be configured to pivot about a pivot line during mounting or removal of the clipper on the outer member of the hair trimmer.

[00041] Referring to FIG. 6, the blade portion 30 can be positioned adjacent to the second edge surface. For example, the blade portion can be positioned on the second edge surface. The blade portion can include a continuous blade extending along part of a length of the second edge surface. In a preferred embodiment, the blade can be positioned at the interface between the second edge surface and the hook portion. For example, the blade can form a flat plane with an external surface of the hook portion.

[00042] In a preferred embodiment, the blade can be inserted into the first edge surface and positioned on the clipper such that the blade sticks on the second edge surface. In this embodiment, a slit is defined on the first edge surface and the second edge surface. The blade can be securely mounted on the slit such that the blade is positioned on the second edge surface.

[00043] The blade can extend away from the second edge surface such that the blade forms an angle with the second edge surface. The angle can be about 10 degrees to about 80 degrees. The angle can be about 30 degrees to about 60 degrees. Furthermore, the angle can be about 100 degrees to about 170 degrees. The angle can be about 120 degrees to about 150 degrees. In one embodiment, the blade can be removably attached to the clipper 5. In another embodiment, the blade can be integrally formed in the clipper.

[00044] Referring to FIG. 5, there is shown another embodiment of the clipper 37 for use with a hair trimmer according to the present disclosure. In FIG. 5, the hook portion 39 is different from the hook portion from the clipper of FIG. 4. The hook portion 39 includes a pivot surface for mounting or removal of an outer member of a hair trimmer. The blade portion 37 can be positioned adjacent to an edge surface 42 as shown in FIG. 5. For example, the blade portion can include a continuous blade extending along part of a length of the edge surface. The blade portion can include a blade that extends away from the edge surface 42 such that the blade forms an angle with the edge surface 42. The angle can be about 10 degrees to about 80 degrees. The angle can be about 30 degrees to about 60 degrees. Furthermore, the angle can be about 100 degrees to about 170 degrees. The angle can be about 120 degrees to about 150 degrees. The blade can be removably attached to the clipper 37. Or, the blade can also be integrally formed in the clipper.

[00045] Referring to FIG. 8, there is disclosed a clipper 85 for use with a handle 87. The clipper 85 can be similar to the clipper as described above. The handle 87 is mountable to a portion 89 of the clipper such that the handle can be easily gripped and maneuvered by a user for shaving with the clipper. For example, the handle can be attached to a portion of the clipper. For example, the handle can be integrally formed in the clipper.
